The All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) hunt for a technical director finally looks to be coming to an end as it is learnt that Dutchman Robert Baan is prime candidate to be appointed for the all-important post.
The position holds high significance as the technical director will be providing strategic, tactical, and technical direction to the AIFF and its representative teams. The director will also drive the development of a philosophy and style of playing for Indian teams (senior and age-group). He will also be the main link between the newly-planned FIFA academies, the age-group and senior national teams.

waiting for his new era
Hey guys the aussie goal.com vistors where not at all happy with his work.
Kolkata: With Armando Colaco refusing the one-year contract offered to him, Karim Bencherifa has now emerged as the frontrunner for the national coach's job, All India Football Federation senior vice-president Subrata Dutta said.
Bencherifa guided Salgaocar to their maiden I-League title last season and was named Best Coach by the Football Players Association of India in its awards show on Monday night.
"Colaco has refused the one-year contract and Bencherifa certainly has emerged a frontrunner. The emergency committee of AIFF will meet next month to decide on the next coach," Dutta said at the show.
Into his fifth season as a club coach in India, the Moroccan was also the coach of the year in 2007 and 2008, and had worked in Singapore and Malaysia before joining Churchill Brothers and Mohun Bagan.
As Churchill Brothers' coach, the Moroccan missed out on the I-League title in 2007-08 on goal difference to Dempo, did the same at Mohun Bagan, before finally lifting the trophy with Salgaocar.
Karim Bencharifa is actually quite fav for the post. But this is only stop-gap coach position and AIFF is not likely to give a full fledged contract to Karim. The other name that was cropping up was David Booth, but he is a weak candidate
Meanwhile, Subrata Bhattacharya has blasted AIFF saying its all because Karim has oiled the egos of AIFF officials. He says the best contenders for the position are Subhash Bhowmick and he himself. Acc. to him, Karim has no achievements to talk about whether as a player or as International coach
