Wrong. He was born in Newcastle to Indian origin father and White English mother. There is a difference between indian origin and indian citizen. His grandparents from father side were Indian citizens. His father never carried India passport. It will take hime 5 years.

Why Arata Izumi says 2 months?? Izumi father was India citizen when Izumi was born. still it took him many many years to get India passport.

Izumi was living in India, chopra is not. Izumi father was Indian citizen, Chopra's father is/was not. Chopra father Minty Chopra is a British citizen -just origin is not enough.
So we cannot compare apples and oranges.

@Ashlesh Well he can get OCI/PIO card but from there to get India passport is a lengthy process-not 2 months as what Negi was saying. None of Chopra's parents were Indian citizens. Just indian origin of father is not enough. Chopra will get India passport but it will take him 4 to 5 years. after 5 years do you think Chopra will be fit enough for india team??? He should have done that when Bob Houghton called on him 4-5 years back. He will never give up his British passport-just trying to cash on ISL cyber League.
Arata Izumi is more Indian then Micheal Chopra because Arata's fathher was Indian citizen. Chopra's father Minty Chopra was British citizen.

Peace Guys.. Whose father !! what goes!!!!!!! .  I agree with munna he is trying to get to Indian league as he is finding tuff in the UK. When he rejected during BOB period. we shouldn't bring him when he is old and useless.

Chopra has lost it in UK his passport not going to fetch him much now, he can earn lot more money in India than being at Europe.

Wish Michael Chopra was a IFN member! He would probably have got some "clarity" on how to get Indian citizenship!  :D

Pls understand, all clubs are working on extremely tight budget and even if Lio Messi had shown interest in donning club jersey of any Indian Team, no club wud hv dared to approach him!

Gone are those days, when an ex EPL trash(I consider Chopra to be precisely that, going by his current form/status - Rohan was far more talented) cud just walk in into any Indian Club Team by sheer virtue of his "ex EPL" tag! Indian football - with the advent of PFC, BFC have become more professional than what it was 3 yrs back, and I believe it would only get better from here.

Also I League wud start in Dec this year, so most of the clubs (who haven't finalised on their foreign recruits) wud hold on to their horses and I guess basis the performance of foreigners in ISL, they wud scout from thereon. My hunch is, this time the quality of foreigners would be better as they would be reqd for a period of 6 months max(I League tenure) and not for a period of 10 - 11 months; since the budget for most clubs wud mostly remain the same, hence the overall budget for the foreigners wud be actually more - and hence better buy and therefore most clubs are going slow on this.
