Really happy for a i-league team from Chennai. Like i said i-league doesnt have the brand value to expect teams to have a 100 crore Bank guarantee, 1 crore just seems to be correct.
Most importantly the criteria for CCFC to be part of i-league was to withdraw from the futsal association which is unrecognised by AIFF more importantly by FIFA. Which they did as per reports 2 days back. As much as Rohit is pompus, have to give him credit for being very ambitious ever since he took over Nethaji SC.
They have a lot of work to do though. Current team is good enough only at Chennai football league. Investment is needed, Stadium should be available atleast for next season till june. Lots of local talent they have which bodes well for local development.
I also hope players like Ravanan, Mohanraj and dhanpal who were initially willing to come back to TN if there was a i-league team there but wont be easy to get them back.
Nigerian Joseph Afusi, who guided Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi to two Bangladesh Premier League titles in 2013-14 and 2014-15 will take charge of the Churchill Goa United FC in the I-League.
