  • I can assure that we will have a professional league in india in october says sepp blatter :-D
  • @Deb_Ban ; Sepp Blatter is also on very good terms with Praful Patel. Infact, if Patel wanted, he has a career ahead of high positions in AFC and FIFA. But because of NCP responsibilities here, he said No. FIFA means Politicians, Royalty, Industrialists, Media. Anyone who has mastery of atleast two out of these four trades has a career in Sports Associations.

few years ago Ronan Rikkits was a big signing in Indian football as he played "EPL" but now see where we are. del peiro ,Ronaldinho. Indian domestic football has improved a lot but the national team has gone down or other teams around it was improved and we are at same point in few years I have fear that Bhutan may even defer as.

@goalkeeper, Del Pieros and Ronaldinhos haven't "improved" Indian domestic football yet. Not even the ball has rolled in Indian soil; it is all talk, as of now. And I don't think they (or anybody else, including Messi and Ronaldo) have the power to improve our game in 2 months. Let them just improve Sanju Pradhan and Climax Laurence first.

Everything is in sixes and sevens now, and I think will remain so in the near future. Your fear of Bhutan overtaking us is real, I should say. The world is not confused like us and are moving fast in the right direction. Look at Myanmar.

pierre boya, leo bartos, league 2 star josh walker also don't have the power to improve our football then. what clubs has done for years? isl has not been rolled out as of yet then how it is helping India to maintain a consistent fifa ranking around 150?? how it is helping our NT to loose against pak draw against bangladesh? it's very clear ISL not the factor of sad state of our football. admit it or not. how a baby (who has not been born yet) kill a giant?

Yes, AIFF has done precious little to improve football, admitted. They are the sole cause for downfall of Indian football. They could not (I should say 'did not') professionalize the game in India.

All these have been argued in detail in this forum. 1) Clubs will not professionalize unless forced. What is the incentive? 2) Clubs run on CSR basis. There is little incentive to be a profit centre. 3) AIFF has failed to install themselves as agents of change. 4) where are the TV deals, gate money, share of sponsorship money?, 5) AIFF entrusted IMG-R to kill I-league so that there are no roadblocks for ISL (I suspect some cash changed hands during this agreement)

The only good thing AIFF did for a long time after starting NFL in 1996 is this rule of marquee players (however sloppily framed). We are seeing some better foreigners than yesteryears.

For all its ills, I can vouch ISL is NOT the remedy. Improve the system from inside, not installing a parallel system and embracing chaos.

... and improving the system from inside is not rocket science, lots of countries have done it earlier, some are within the process. It needs patience/ perseverance, honesty and good management.

How come corrupt, non-industrialized and poor countries like Tajikistan, Myanmar, Philippines are overtaking us (North Korea was and is ahead of us) when we cannot? They did not need any football circus to rise.

The answer is that we did not give it an honest try. And now we are trying to be smart by recreating an EPL Hoodwinking ourselves, basically.
