Ah who the hell cares. Lets be honest, the future is the Indian Super League, the I-League is as good as gone in a few years. The article is from October, when the league just began, since then people have pretty much accepted the ISL... don't be so blind people.
U never answer what is asked. Can both leagues continue?? Is 3 teams from Goa n Kolkata ok with you in ISL?? What will u do with the i league teams. Convince me that ISL can overcome all these issues.
Shillong Lajong has pretty much partnered with NorthEast United FC so that should be no problem. Royal Wahingdoh will just be relegated or expelled in some way or another. Dempo has pretty much partnered with FC Goa. Sporting Goa is unfit for even the I-League and if what @Ashlesh said is true then there demise is coming soon. Salgaocar is the only question in Goa but you have years to decide what to do.
Bengaluru FC will most likely just join the ISL, the owners have said in the past that they would like to. Mumbai FC will probably dissolve one day or be bought by Mumbai City FC. Pune FC and Bharat FC will either merge, fold, or do something or another with FC Pune City... again, we have time to solve this.
The only question we have is with East Bengal and Mohun Bagan. Atletico de Kolkata is not a Kolkata club... there is nothing Spanish about Kolkata so why the hell are they named that? They are owned by another team, they are not their own identity. East Bengal and Mohun Bagan, if they change the way the operate, would be accepted with open arms probably in the ISL but if not then who knows.
So in the end, we have plenty of years to decide... we don't need to decide now but the change has already started, it is going to happen whether you like it or not so just accept it.
ISL will not want to be the only league of India. They cannot hold it over a long period (6-7 months season), follow AFC/FIFA criteria and independent clubs. Right now benami ownership and fake owners are there in ISL. Will they open their account books to FIFA? or will they share their revenue with AFC/FIFA? As an unofficial league, they have more opportunity to make money. But I-League is important otherwise India will be out of FIFA. Remember IPL is so popular, still they have not removed Ranji Trophy or First Class Cricket?
And honestly, what is wrong with ISL? Why are we so dicky about it? We have seen guys like Romeo Fernandes and Sandesh Jhingan do what they did not show in the I-League and now they might get something abroad... we also have seen foreign players we would never seen in India before and other Indians who have emerged from nowhere.
There is a lot to do and that is why I call this season "Season T" because this is the test season... lets see what they have learned... what changes will be made... this is where IMG-Reliance should show what they have learned and whether they are truly dedicated or not. Lets wait, lets not bash.
Nobody is denying the success of ISL. ISL managed to get good crowd, good sponsors and brought good football players. Now it will take some time before the owners (Reliance Group) decide whether this is what they wanted and what will be the future course.
Lot of assumptions and hope about getting rid of I league clubs. Its not so easy. Salgcr, pfc , eb n mb will not go without a fight. What we need is ISL to have clear ownership. Not reliance owning 4 out of 8 teams.
From what I saw I have no doubt that they are happy with what they saw, the potential is there and they can make it into a 6-8 month league soon but not now. Again, wait a few years... we are expecting WAY to much in such a small amount of time.
