@Dominic I agree 100% but that is why I say this can all be solved within the next few years! And ISL is not the first sports league which had half the teams owned by the same people... I don't think I need to say which league that is to avoid the swearing lol.
Again, just wait a few years and things will happen. A lot can happen in that time.
I league has to schedule 20 league game per team from 3rd week of January to 3rd week of May. Ie only 4 months. . add to that reschedule games because of East Bengal and BFC adventures in Asia...
Therefore in addition to weekend games. .there will be a fair few midweek games this season
Add to that two World Cup 2018 AFC Qualifiers on 12th and 17th of March. I-League has to stop at that time. I can see I-League extending upto 1st week of June. Nice weather then!!! This will be interesting. Will BFC and East bengal give their players for National Team for First Round of WCQ? They got AFC Games around those dates only.
Normal european league is of 38 matches with cups and other tournaments which could add upto around 45 matches in 9-10 months... so it is well possible for professional players... But is definitely new and high demanding for indian players definitely
Indian players have been doing it regularly for years. State league + Santosh Trophy + NFL/I-League and other tournaments and you got yourself around 35-45 games a season. The difference here is that in Europe they have a better organized schedule that works for the players and helps fatigue while here we have a bloody game every 2-3 days with the exception being I-League!
