If the news of merging the qualifiers is true, then the chances of us facing more Asian opponents in qualifiers will be increased as AFC wont want a play-off to knock out a nation's hope from two big tournaments that will be huge heart break.

Though a huge heart break, we can feel the sadness and frustration and plan for new dream(2026 WC :P ) at one time and wont need to feel them twice.

yes archak i understood it... now we are expecting qualifier with 5-6 teams in the group i hoped....
means 10-12 high points earning matches provided we get a result

Yes but how will the points for the matches be counted?? Cuz asian cup q and wc q has different values... So we are going to miss out on wc i guess

@archak, Asian cup matches will be accorded points-weightage same as that of the WCQ, i. e., 2.5 times.  it will be broad-based to enable the weak countries to gather more FIFA points. And that is why this has become more important.

If so then india needs to get some result. If india gets some results then the rankings will shoot up

@archak I don't think India will be able to do a "Palestine" in Asia Cup. Australia and Japan are too strong for India. What if India is grouped with these two countries?
