I can see a similarity between 2011 vs 2019. I personally feel we were fearless against Bahrain while pounded but restricted the likes of Korea and Australia to 4 goals a piece. Not a bad achievement for a team that came via challenge cup.
This team is no better than the 2011 team in my opinion despite the hype.
South Korea and Australia killed us! They just stopped playing after the third goals. Australia were 2-0 up after the 25th minute with relative ease. South Korea were 2-0 up by the 10th minute.
There no way we are going to make it into pot2. Yemen have the better chance of make it into pot2 and couple of other countries can overtake us in ranking at the end of qualifiers.
To be in pot3 we have to get good results in matches against Myanmar and Kyrgyzstan (It won't make any difference if we are in pot3 or pot4. All teams expected to qualify and teams qualified are better than us) . The way in which we played against these two teams in first two matches, last two fixtures of ACQ going to be very tough. It will be suicidal if play them without a warmup game.
We have to get at least a draw out of last two games to qualify. A win against Macau will not guarantee place in Asian cup, if Kyrgyzstan and Myanmar win one match each in the two matches between them (assuming Macau will lose all their matches) . Then win each for them against us can take those two to Asian cup on goal difference. (we beat Myanmar and Kyrgyzstan by just one goal. Which can be easily overturned)
AFC is finding it difficult to organise game between Myanmar and Kyrgyzstan. Because of Rohingya trouble, there is no safe neutral venue for Myanmar - not even Malaysia or Qatar. I feel for AFC. Malaysia and North Korea have trouble with each other. Saudi Arabia and Iran has problem so again neutral venues. Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan all have security problems so neutral venues. Clubs of these countries in AFC Cup and ACL also got same issues.
LOL.. India was placed in a relatively easier group in the World Cup Qualifying matches. what happened then? This talk of ranking, pots etc are shit..if india wants to perform well at continental level they need to play as stronger teams as possible to avoid humiliation. Just goes to show when Sports in run by no-sports person shits, this is always going to happen. Even if SC wanted not to play against stronger opponents, AIFF should have overruled, which it does not cause people at helm have 0% idea on football. I should say -nve idea on football
