Yes and no to investment going towards an opening ceremony and foreign players. I don't personally like the opening ceremony but if it helps the ISL look good and attract better sponsors then so be it, same with recruiting foreigners so that people will come to the stadiums and the league quality is good.
The problem is after all that we still don't put money into youth development as much as we should. Also doesn't help that the All India Football Federation doesn't have a proper structure to incentivize teams.
@souravindia When you see images of Iraq, Syria on TV, it is not that every street, every town is like that. Media shows the most war-torn parts of the country but many areas are peaceful also and Sports flourish in those parts. Western media image of India is also of slum/shanties and cow.
Sporting culture in any society also matters. Drastic conditions or not, if people love football, they will play more football and better players will come from those parts.
