@Nagendra Which event in shooting did you participate in? Surely I am not looking at running 100 meter in sub 11 second timing for being a shooter but great physical and mental fitness is required. Shooters target between heartbeats and lower heartbeat and blood pressure is required, something which comes with Years of training in the sport and better conditioning. Hours and hours of practice result in various injuries also.
even earlier I partially agreed what u said... but mainly I'm commenting on... do we need tremendous physical fitness and age ?? If we go by sports science , all sports/events need mental and physical fitness including carrom board, pool/billiards.....
I was mainly stressing that Shooting & Archery needs less physical fitness when compared to track & field events... also it is not boz of physical fitness, we lost medals in Shooting...
And more-over , to be precise, age is not a factor in Shooting...... 20 year old or 40 year old can win this event..
Shooting is most unpredictable event... on a given day, a shooter can win gold medal in Olympics and in next competition, he may fail to qualify for final....
http://xtratime.in/more-sports/rio-2016-dipa-karmakar-excited-not-nervous-prior-to-her-final-show/ Dipa has become a lady of vast astonishment to the Gymnastic family in Rio. According to her, “Here everyone of the Gymnastic family keeps watching me. They use to say that the Indian Star has arrived. They feel proud for me. Not only this, they expect that if India advance in this pace within ten years India will be like China and USA”. Way to go, girl! Indians from all parts of the world will be cheering for her tomorrow in the finals. Irrespective of whether she wins a medal or not, she has made her country proud.
If they think India will match USA and China in 10 years, they do not know how things work in Indian sports.
Dipa Karmakar is a product of sheer hard work and chutzpah. Only that explains the sudden rise of such a world class talent in a aport so rarely taken up here. There will be little follow up from the ministry aur athletics federation. That is how it works.

Matches are going on. Courts aren't vacant
