@thebeautifulgame ; Roadmap India at Tokyo 2020 is a nice title. That thread will suffice for now for discussions on future. For analysis of Indian performance at 2016 Olympics, we already have this thread going on.

I am commenting on the post in other thread about Olympic Gold Quest. Frankly speaking, Olympic Gold Quest should be renamed as Olympic Dabba Quest. Who are the real people they are working for?

    1) Leander Paes is listed as one of the Directors at OGQ. How was his conduct at Rio Olympics? Came 1 night before opening ceremony and less then 36 hours before 1st match where he had to pair with Rohan Bopanna? They lost in First Round. Why he came so late? He was playing masala exhubition match in New York. Such is the conduct of "Director" of Olympic Dabba (They say it is Gold) Quest. No practice with Doubles Partner-such is the quest of Gold.

    2) Vikas Gowda the Great is promoted by OGQ for last 6 years. This was 4th Olympics by Gowda Ji. In all these 4 Olympics, he never came close to National Record or his Personal Best. But somehow he is training in USA by his father (his coach also). They have mastered the art of reaching minimum qualification well in advance, get the funding, and then giving ridiculous performance at all 4 olympics 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016. OGQ has no idea of fitness of Vikas Gowda but their website has many Physiotherapists!!!!

    3) Viren Rasquinha CEO used to come with very moist eyes on TV channels when India got 6 medals in 2012. He  used to give data based on population that 6 medals are poor-how OGQ will ensure 10-15 medals??? Only medals they are getting is from corporates for invoices of CSR Tax Exemptions in the name of Olympics preparations.

    4) There should be an inquiry on how such organisations have influenced that their signed  players will go in Olympics - with no concern for fitness, performance or medal probability? Have they mastered the art of sending their people ate the qualifying tournaments where it is easy to qualify and then get hold of public funding ?

    5) On what basis are they claiming the success of P V Sindhu? what was their contribution to her?

Even now, the bronze medalist is not being spared! On Facebook, she is accused of exposing her body to get the medal! Horrible! How low can people stoop!

Among the issues that the NRAI is keen to have the panel investigate are shooters hiring personal coaches, the selection of shooters for multiple Olympics on reputation rather than form and the role of private non-profits like the now-defunct Mittal Champions Trust, Olympic Gold Quest, Lakshya Foundation, Anglian Medal Hunt and Go Sports - who liase between athlete, federation and sports ministry.

Just like we stupid people here celebrate achievements of a  Sundar Pichai or a Kalpana Chawla.
Or may be they are not stupid to celebrate achievements of their diaspora. That relieves us too from the tag of stupidity too.
I am not sure about this issue.

Margarita Mamun is a Russian Rhythmic Gymanst whose Father is a Bangladeshi and Mother is Russian. She is a very celebrated Gymnast, has won Multiple Major Tournaments and is Represented Only Russia.S he has Russian citizenship. Bangladesh as a country has never come close to winning an Olympic Medal. In 2016(Rio),7 Athletes participated for them with just 1 Athlete(Golfer) qualifying on merit.Rest all were invitations. They have only one decent Sports Person other than Cricketers who has done something Notable in recent past. His name is Abdullah Baki(He is a shooter and won Silver Medal at Commonwealth Games 2014).Even he didn't qualify for Olympics on merit but he is perhaps the best Bangladesh have.
