Kostas was my favorite player in ISL.Was a beast....And For god's sake he captained a side in the last world cup..And ISL probably dont need the marquee rule from this season IMO
And this goes back to what I mentioned in the ISLvsI-League thread about making the ISL more community based and ingrained in the culture in India. I still think a guy who was really good in say, Paraguay, could come to Kerala Blasters and establish himself... hell, guys like Gustavo, Bruno, Iain etc did and they are nowhere near marquee level.
I am hoping this changes soon otherwise we will be hit with the retirement league shit MLS gets.
1) I dont think ISL want to merge with those clubs who are not in Ambani control/ownership.
2) I also dont think that ISL want to follow FIFA or AFC Guidelines.
3) Will they have elected body or open for Audit by AFC/FIFA?
They are enjoying separate status where they are not following rules. They are fulfiling their objective of investing under CSR where they are earning tax rebate for their parent Reliance Group.
If say for eg. UB group or Jindals( they are capable, I know) are unable to maintain an ISL team due to low financial power they can sell their stakes to other companies. I think let's wait up to next FIFA election. Whoever wins they will oppose this ISL I assume. It should be unified to one league or scrap any one. Give an deadline to AIFF. Do this or get banned. Then they will do something positive.
I don't think they would oppose the ISL... the ISL could possibly give more money to FIFA in the long run while the I-League probably won't and FIFA loves that. FIFA will probably give a deadline or the AFC could take action now and threaten our slot in the AFC Champions League qualifiers.
