I mean, celebs also run teams abroad. In the US, Jay Z owned a stake in the Brooklyn Nets and was very influential in getting them moved from New Jersey (Newark) to Brooklyn.

Difference here though is that celebrity owners in sports teams don't have much actual influence over the day-to-day running of teams. Usher co-owns the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA and all he does is control the entertainment side of things.

I detect sarcasm in your post ;) Anyways ignoring it am asking what gives Mumbai to have the right to have a class team? They fucked up with Mumbai FC and now with Mumbai City FC.. They are the next Delhi mate.

For you to get the right setup you need a player who hates losing..They could have got for eg: Manual Friedrich who was extremely pissed off for finishing bottom half last season and expected better from his side throughout the tournament. Now thats captain/coach mentality.

Its these kind of guys who would make a better potential player/coach. Anyways they have Ranbir as ambassador.. What else will you expect?

Andrea Pirlo declined offer to play in ISL- Indian Super League

Italian star Andrea Pirlo was approached by an Indian Super League (ISL) club to be their marquee player in the second season of the league. However, the 35 year old declined to take the offer over differences in the wages being offered.

The current salary cap for a player is Rs 20 crores. The offer that was made by the club to Pirlo was less than what he is currently earning at Juventus.

@archak most of the guys like Marco and Anelka have no coaching licenses let alone the Pro License

Then again Derrick Perreira has the Pro. ..but would you hire him instead of Anelka ?

Just because these players had an illustrious career in Europe, doesn't make them good coaches/managers. I would prefer the likes of Marco being an assistant to full time coaches. Coaching is different ball game all together and wouldn't mind these players learn the basics of coaching during ISL under a proper coach(various assistant coaches plying their trade in Europe who would be willing to come).

There's an old saying that to do something one does not need any sort of certification. The only things that matters is the SKILLS the person has. Obviously, we live in a world where a piece of paper is very important to have a good first impression.
But, in this case as @gaffertape said Marco has no licence. But, with his skills he did a decent job last season.
