Ideally would want to see a 16 team I-League: Constantine
"I would ideally want to see a 16-team I-League. The second division I-League should be held across five regions with the top two teams qualifying for the first division, that way we can spread the game across the country,"
Someone tell SC That Kolkata clubs do have their own ground to train. Not only ground but stadium along with them? And clubs as such can do nothing. Everything depends upon state government policy towards a particular sport. Tell me one club who has purchased land to create a new training facility along with all required criteria. What clubs can do in this regard? EB ground do have a gymnasium also medical facilities are also their. Basic facilities obviously. You can't expect a club to run a hospital along with.
Mohan Bagan and East Bengal are the two biggest clubs in India (possibly the only 2) but their contribution to Indian football is not akin to their stature, thanks to gross mismanagement at every level. You can't compare these 2 clubs with any other I-league club as the others are not fortunate enough to sport such a big fan base, interest for the sport, and of course history. The management has even stooped to renaming these historic clubs after liquor brands!
Bengaluru FC in one year has done things a lot more professionally than the illustrious Kolkatta clubs.
Constantine blaming clubs for infrastructure woes!!!! How about blaming ISL Franchises and Tents? What have they achieved in Infrastructure? He can train India NT and junior age-groups in set ups created by ISL gang members. Can SC show fabulous stadiums, academies, training facilities created by ISL? If not then he should stop pointing fingers at clubs. Point your finger somewhere else!!!!
@atuljg Whats wrong with sponsorship from liquor companies? UEFA Champions League get sponsorship from Heineken Beer. our Cricket world cup in 1996 was called Wills world cup as sponsored by ITC. Dhoni, Harbhajan had Mcdowells and Royal Stag controversy. India is not a dry country.
