So some of you are advocating they follow the trasfer policy of Kolkata clubs like Prayag Utd , East Bengal or Mohun Bagan ?
Why should they be like Bayern. ...why not like an Atletico Madrid or better still ...like Southampton.
Simple reasons they didn't progress : 1: played without a proper striker...Rooney 2/10 according to scouts**...Robin around the same. 2.: the Club is only 19months old ! ( remember the Hare & the Tortoise tales....they don't need to panic buy ) 3.: credit to JDT..they are the Man City of Malaysia
@Ashlesh Honestly, with the way Bengaluru FC are managing with sponsorships and the like, you never know. I am not saying it is for sure but it could.
Also... WTF! Spain and Germany are not good because they are dominated by the one team in their leagues (or 2-3). That is so pathetic and short-sighted, even for football fans! Do some research, look at some lower level European leagues and you will see that many of them are dominated by 1-2 teams and that the majority of the national team players come from those teams yet you don't see fucking Latvia dominating because a lot of Latvians play for FK Ventspils.
I didn't tell Germany and Spain weren't good before. Why do you have to imply things that were never meant?
The German and Spanish players playing together at the club level also were instrumental in their National team performance. Many other teams also had good players but these two teams had an added advantage of better team chemistry and it matters in tournaments like the world cup.
If you're saying the Bayern Munich policy of buying all the best players in Bundesliga and playing them together had no effect on the performance of Germany at the world cup, you need to focus more!
It would be great having 3-4 clubs having to share around 20 of best 25 players... say best wingers from dempo side, best midfield from east Bengal, best forwards from BFC and best central back pairing from bagan / SFC would be good...
Though it seems the players are scattered.. the player would be having a good chemistry due to the likelihood of playing with best players of their position together and also the prospect of best defense vs best forward attack or best midfield vs best counter attacking side
That will definitely improve the quality and challenge of the players and the league
BFC has two goal blind strikers upfront, viz. Sean Rooney and Robin Singh. They didnt upgrade their squad post last season. Give credit to the current lot that they put up a good fight but may be its a good thing that this BFC squad didnt face Bangkok Glass.
Bengaluru FC Lose ACL Play-Off's First Round Match The best chance of an evenly fought first half fell to the visitors when Englishman John Johnson - named the I- League's best defender in Bengaluru's championship winning season - headed in Beikhokhei Beingaichho's 23rd minute corner. Pereyra Diaz almost set-up a third for JDT when some nimble footwork and a slick reverse pass sent Nazrin clear on the left side of the Bengaluru box but Lalthuammawia did well to block the 26-year-old winger's powerful 109th minute drive. Lalthuammawia almost gifted JDT at the death when he scuffed a weak clearance directly to the feet of Chanturu, but the 27-year-old's weak effort was comfortably gathered by the grateful keeper. The miss didn't prove too costly, however, with Bengaluru unable to find a last-gasp equaliser for the second time in the match as the Southern Tigers move on to the next phase in their campaign to qualify for Asia's premier club competition.
