Most of the players who played against Srilanka played in ISL and the rule was same for all - 3 games in 7 days! How come their clubs could release them, while BFC didn't ?
And for all knowing BFC, if they feel playing 3 games in 7 days is inhuman(indeed it is), then why loan out their players! They didnt do so last year, the world didn't come to an end then, so why this time!
SAFF does not need to be scrapped. Only that its current format of teams playing alternate days need to be changed. SAFF gives NT enough match practice to test and get their combinations right for AFC competitions. SAFF is the reason that we get to play atleast 5 games which our incompetent AIFF cannot manage to provide us. NT playing here can be a combination of uncapped youth players and some experienced players so that we can collect those ranking points that we desperately need to climb up the FIFA ladder. (Our sending of U-23 team in 2009 SAFF gave us no ranking points)
EB and MB must follow BFC and ISL outfits. Why on earth should Kolkata clubs release players early for camps? We should just adhere to FIFA rule regarding international games.
And if we lose to Afghanistan, that's just because we have a crap coach and pretty shitty players bar one of two. If AIFF cannot sort a fucking calendar, don't blame the clubs. The clubs pay the players, time they hold them by their nuts and make them do whatever they want.
It is the choice of club .. if they are ready to rick the option of players taking injuries it is their choice... BFC didnt wanted its club players to get injured during the camp... It might be that the players would have pointed out the rigorous training methods of SC to BFC staff and thought it is best for players to skip camp and directly join the team while players from other clubs thought NT camp would be needed for their improved CV and not notified their club
I for one support SAFF to continue. Hell 1/4 or near of world population here and AFC/FIFA wont recognise and make it an official tournament? Screw them.
I for one if PP and SAFF as a whole is gonna vote for new president then i want them to make it a point to make SAFF an official tournament with an option to invite and for this tournament to be used for match points
The best tournament to be used as a barometer to test NT standard against the neighbourhood and to test young guns as well.
India alone cannot improve without its neighbourhood lagging behind.
@atuljg Off-topic but BCCI will not give rat's ass to Lodha Commission. You cannot discriminate against anybody from entering BCCI or AIFF. An industrialist or a Politician or a common man also has equal right to enter sports organisation as an ex-player. Lodha Commission suggestion will go to dustbin.
In Indian context yes - the suggestion would be dumped into the dustbin and sadly so.
The irony is post a sportsperson's retirement from active sports, since there are limited opportunities for him/her to get in sports administration(which otherwise would have been a logical shift) b'cos of dominance of political people, they really cant do much when it comes to development in respective field; some are outrightly "bought" by these political bigwigs in the name of consultant/head/director - just to keep their mouth shut and be a puppet of these netas!
And since most of the sportsperson are from humble background/poor families, beyond a point they are always happy to lead a financially active retired life and no one is complaining about it
