ISL: FC Pune City promise to pay outstanding wages in tranches
The owners of Indian Super League (ISL) club FC Pune City have promised to pay the players and coaching staff their outstanding wages in three equal tranches,Goal has learnt.
As reported earlier by Goal, the Wadhawan Group-owned club, based in Pune, has been struggling financially throughout the fifth season of ISL and payments to several players and members of the coaching staff were delayed.
The club chairman Dheeraj Wadhawan has written a letter to all the Pune City employees to reassure them about due payments and promised to pay them over the next three months.
"The club has undergone unprecedented financial hardships and challenges for the Season 5 of the Indian Super League. The Promoters and Board Members of the club would like to sincerely thank everyone associated with the club for their patience and understanding during the period. While many payments have been delayed, the club is committed to honouring all the outstanding payments in a time bound and structured manner going forward," said Dheeraj Wadhawan in the aforementioned letter.
Payments to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the coaching staff will be made first and all the coaches' salaries and a month's wages of players are expected to be cleared by June 10, 2019.
The next set of payments is set to be made before July 10, wherein another month's player salaries are expected to be cleared. All the remaining payments to players and supporting staff are expected to be completed before August 10.
FC Pune City had earlier stated that the club had never failed to pay their players and that payments were never delayed for more than a month. However, the club is yet to make full payments to their players and coaching staff, with the chairman and owner of the club forced to send a letter to the concerned parties.
The Stallions initially considered releasing their first team squad at the end of the fifth season of ISL before making a u-turn and asking the players to report for training ahead of the Super Cup. They finished seventh in the league and were knocked out of the Super Cup by I-League champions Chennai City.
With the promoters set to ensure fresh flow of funds, sources said the club would eventually tide over the crisis. "They will bail out the club but it remains to be seen whether they will be able to meet the new deadlines," they said. "All their players are free agents now and can sign anywhere. Coach Brown is currently in England and is expected to return only after the dues are cleared. Who knows, we probably would have new owners and even a new city -- Ahmedabad," sources added.
DSK Shivajians, Bharat FC , Pune FC all suffered and closed down due to Financial problems. What is the problem there ? Real Estate Market collapse or what ?
@munna219777 piramanl group(pune FC) and bharat forge(bharat FC) are still there.. its just that having club in pune is not at all easy.. these corporate cant even break it even , forget profits.
problem is lack of connect with common public and lack of proper football structure at district level.
take an example of cricket , we have PYC or deccan gymkhana where excellent training centers are there. in Maharashtra ranji team there are still lot of Pune based cricketers. So usual sports lover atleast know few established names likes Kedar Jadhav, Hrishikesh kanitkar or vetern Shantanu sugvekar,Chandu Borde , Surendra Bhave. while in football there isnt even single footballer from Pune, less I say about PDFA its better
Even People know FCPC by hrithik roshans team not marcelino or ashiques team ,thats self explanatory
What a stupid decision to move franchise to Ahmedabad/Rajasthan/Orissa/Punjab/Hyderabad... As if these cities have lot of football culture
CCFC benifitted by moving to Coimbatore.., similarly FCPC should try some matches in Kolhapur (they have great football culture there) and its ~100 km from Pune. Similarly some new location could be found.
I think regional connection is key for isl teams. When isl is over in March April time, exams also gets over; why can’t they organise school level tournaments that time???
Also June-July time when rain comes playing cricket is hard. So many Indians play football in rain, why can’t any isl team organise a football tournament during that time???
If fcpc connect to people(specially those who play football), people will start taking interest in club & start attending matches by paying tickets
Moving to random city is not guaranteed success, so they should start working towards a strategy instead of moving cities
