How does it legitimise ISL? They are not giving any slot to winner of ISL. ISL teams can participate in Super cup with I-league clubs. That tournament will be recognised as a cup tournament - not ISL.
In cup tournament only teams from league structure can play . If isl clubs will play in new federation cup and I league champions will qualify for ACL then AIFF have to show ISL as a 2nd or 3rd div to AFC on papers .
just like FA Cup champions plays in Europa League but only teams from English League structure can play into it .
AFC has rejected AIFF request of extra slot of AFC cup to ISL champions .
Yeah Thanks @7negi In order to show ISL as 2nd or 3rd division, AIFF will need to grant them atleast National Criteria on paper. Lets see how ISL will take this. Do they even wish to play in AFC Cup?
let me add my 2 cents on this, will give you all real life example from corporate world..
in any process there are certain rules and regulation set by client who give you contract.. logic is simple - they are your employer you are employee , you have to abide rules cos they are the authority.. even if you oppose them, it will work for some time but eventually they will find a way to get that job done e.g. i am handling network operations for which i would require field engineer support , my client says it has to be done in optimum way i& in certain timeline along with procedures.. I may give them xyz reasons stating its impossible due to practical implementation plus process is set in different way (so client should have decision making authority) but my client is corporate big wig so he make his own procedures and set himself at top level of authority (now he can set process as per his requirement) so at the end of the day, I have no choice but to follow their instructions
now put it in current scenario , do you all really think IMGR is that dumb not to keep tab on these criticisms they get? more you people question them over recognition or official status of league, they will find a way to make that happen it may take time , but it will happen (they will find some loophole in system to get things in their favour somehow)
my point is dont underestimate people who are clever in doing politics they have their resources who can take care of legal issues
I Bet they must have got help from some AFC insider to tackle that Aizawl problem after which they purposefully delayed merger and set things in different ways
But this illogical. Why only an AFC Cup spot? If ISL along with I-league both are top divisions,Then why only I-league can represent in Champions League? Also can someone explain me,if Super Cup winner will also qualify for AFC Cup,so a total of 3 spots will be awarded by AFC ?
