MB matches low turnout in Sarovar was partly due to the city police not allowing full capacity (they did allow it in case of ISL before it). Th officials made the mistake of keeping the price of the remaining seats high.
So it is apathy from the authority plus some bad business sense. In no way this may be taken as a reflection of changing tastes of the public.
ticket price was less than ATK matches for sure. In any case, these are not my views. I just said what IMG is thinking. But I think we have to accept that there is a good amount people in the city who wants masala matches. We may not fall in that group, but they exist.
The point is not about masala matches or even pricing. It's about some basic spectator friendly approach. Buying tickets for an ATK game is just so easy compared to MB. For a Bagan game i have to ask & rely on an unofficial twitter account to know about ticket details. And i have been to ATK games at RS & i have been Bagan matches also. Just because i like a little less hassle doesn't mean i like masala matches..
MB & EB have been lucky to have us. Any such mismanaged club would have closed a lot earlier.
it will be a massive mistake to have weekday and weekend matches for both I-league and ISL, Will add to the football fatigue of the TV viewer and will reduce TRP.Having matches from Friday to Sunday is the right approach.
There is also the issue of Star making ISL play at the same time as that of Premier league timings. Whether you like it or not ISL is still our Indian league and hope it's not given a step motherly treatment as against money spinning EPL.
We need to ensure ISL and I-league are shown in Starsports 1,3 & 4 while make EPL only on Select sports so EPL plastic fans subscribe for it separately.
Also having a earlier match at say 3pm -5:30 pm will ensure complete TV coverage exclusively for Indian football while having another match kicking off at 7pm -10 pm competing against EPL timing.
Seriously, about those violations of statutes -- do FIFA and AFC overlook them? Sooner or later this is going to haunt them. Why aren't they keeping the system clean?
@DX, I would say EPL is getting step motherly treatment now. I don't remember if any of the arsenal matches were broadcasted in Star sports regular channels this season. Usually it comes in Star HD or star select which needs to be purchased separately. But ISL matches were broadcasted in regular Star sports. And they show some stupid cricket hls which are so boring than anything. So even if it pains me to miss EPL I am happy that they are broadcasting ISL.
