These clubs could follow the MB model for academy. Tie up with a PSU, so you get all the infrastructure and maintainance covered by them while the club provides the coaches and cost of living, school, food, etc.

They seem to have too many PR exercise Academy's rather than any genuine youth development model.

At least they are signing younger players with potential rather than the Naoba , Mama , Nabi type players.  That's a good sign...

Eh, their youngest guy is 23 years old right now. Younger than most I guess. At least this way they can say how they are focused on the future when they fail to make the finals.

@nameWTHeld Is there anyway to have a timer at the top of the forum which counts down to 1 September 2016. We shall see if by then anything has happened.

@ArsenalFan700 the DD new signings are under 23.
And avg. age of the squad is much younger, they seem to be preparing themselves for when they sign the same players for longer term deals when ISL apparently becomes a longer league.

Maybe they are unconfirmed then cause the announced guys so far are Toni Doblas (35), Sanjban Ghosh (25), Anas Edathodika (29), Souvik Chakraborty (25), Kean Lewis (23), Milan Singh (24), and Soram Anganba (23).

Indian players.... we all know the foreign players push up the Avg age. That's just the nature of the league.

This is the third announcement for MOU regarding an academy.
First was to be based in I think Rohtak, second in Lucknow and third in Greater Noida.
Remember, all are MOUs. This stadium complex in greater noida where the academy will come up, I have played there. I used to be in the youth team of the academy in 11th standard. Don't know if the GNIDA academy is still functional. They were facing major cash crunch at that time due to lack of trainees. Also, it was badly managed as it was government authority run. Aster academy in greater noida had a lot of trainees with them. They had the best coaches at that time. Probably, they are re-branding the same GNIDA academy to bring in much needed money and also technical expertise.

The infra is decent btw. Requires little maintenance though.

Didn't go through this thread earlier and realize people are thinking Indian participation in Gothia cup is new. That's entirely wrong. East Bengal/Mb and even Kolkata Mayors 11 used to participate in Gothia cup.

I still remember, being in my youth as you people are, how elated I was hearing news like Eb went on to defeat Riverplate Academy of Argentina, Sao Paolo academy of Brazil etc amongst others. But not long before I realized, the concept of age cheating.

Anyway, those cups were there for long and lot of Bengal clbs/ assembled teams used to participate. So this is nothing news really.
