"Tamperine Rovers miss curcial training session due to curfew in B'lore"
Tampines Rovers were forced to cancel their scheduled training on Monday evening due to the violence in Bangalore over the waters of the Cauvery river...

Singapore League outfit Tampines Rovers were handed a critical blow ahead of their crucial Asian Football Confederation's (AFC) Cup tie against Bengaluru FC, when the team were forced to cancel their scheduled practice session in the Garden City, on Monday 12th September, owing to the curfew placed due to the ongoing row over the Cauvery river, between Karantaka and Tamil Nadu.

The Cauvery is an important water body, chiefly used for irrigation and hydro-electric power generation, that flows through the two southern states after origniating in Coorg, Karnataka, and draining in to the Bay of Bengal.

The Mighty Stags will play Bengaluru FC in a two-legged tie, first of which will be held at Sree Kanteerava Stadium, the home of Bengaluru FC on 14th September, Wednesday at 7 pm local time.

The 2013 S. League champions were scheduled to train at 4 PM on Monday, but the circumstances meant that the training had to be put off. They are coming on the back of a 1-0 loss against Home United, and they now sit second in the domestic table.

Rovers' management instead improvised and made the situation work in their favor by indulging in a light training session in the carpark of the hotel they were lodged in.

jdt is the stongest team in afc cup
  • It is debatable. Last time they were being thrashed in SF by Kuwait club but a chance banning of Kuwait FA not only gave them bye in SF but ensured that weak team came to Finals as both stronger Kuwait clubs were disqualified. On any given day, Arab clubs are better then East Asian clubs.

    True... But a small correction..

Not all Arab clubs are better then East Asian clubs.... This is mostly valid for Kuwait and Syrian clubs... Also Iraqi clubs are most unpredictable.... On their day, they can beat any AFC cup opponent ( Arab or East Asian Clubs)...

Earlier, Bahrain , Lebanon & Jordan clubs used to be dominant in AFC Cup competitions... Now they are beatable and are NO dominant like Kuwait and Syrian clubs... Even Indian clubs can beat Bahrain , Lebanon & Jordan clubs

@Shreejitswain Yes, watch Bengaluru FC vs Tampines Rovers today at 3:50 PM LIVE on Star Sports 2/HD2 & @hotstartweets.

  • @Nagendra ; I do not recall any recent encounters where Indian clubs can beat the likes of Bahrain, Lebanon or Jordan clubs. They have lot of National Team players also in these sides. sadly, the format is such that you will meet Arab team only in the Finals. I see JDT reaching upto the Finals.
