Nice summery of the state of the affair, @goalkeeper. To be fair, you could perhaps also mentioned the possibility of the ban India would face in case of a Lodha-Comittee like intervention.
Was that written by goalkeepar? Looks to be copied and pasted from a newspaper opinion section.
Also it is kind of rubbish... kind of love how whenever there is an article that is positive of the ISL, users come out venomously against it and call it propaganda but then I see this piece doing the same thing but against ISL and in support of the Goan clubs. This guy is literally putting all the blame on the AIFF, 100% of it. As if Indian football has declined after all these decades solely because of the AIFF. Come on now, the clubs also have as much blame as the national federation and we know it. If it was not for the ISL we would be instead complaining about the I-League clubs, Goan, Kolkata, etc. and how corrupt and backwards they all are.
Also bias much? ISL is for those who want to bribe? Maybe, but until I see actual proof then I won't actually listen to someone who says as much. And ISL is for aging and retired players? Aging, yes, retired, not anymore. And honestly, just cause some of these guys are old does not mean they don't bring positives into Indian football that a twenty-something Nigerian or I-League calibre player does not. I would rather Borja Fernandez and Gaston Sangoy even over the likes of Ranti Martins or Darryl Duffy.
And what is this Lodha recommendation stuff? Parliament getting involved? Get to fuck! Congrats on getting India banned from all footballing competitions.
And this does not even include how this guy automatically thinks that the ISL shall forever remain closed even though the AIFF have said they want to only keep it closed for the first few years.
The premise of @goalkeepar 's article is absolutely correct even if he goes too far to link things. (beedi baron to football, really?!). The AIFF is singularly responsible for the demise of Indian football. Clubs fall under (or used to anyways) the oversight of the AIFF. If they haven't professionalised or added infrastructure or increased the base of the sport, it's the fault of the All India Football Federation and the state federations it manages. As for government/court intervention, it's highly hypocritical of forum members to expect government money (taxpayers nonetheless) for development of sports but asking for zero government oversight. Sorry, that can't work. If the federation gets banned, really, it's no loss. As for @ArsenalFan700 , you have an opinion on everything, how does that change anything on the ground? The ISL is a rubbish development, capitalizing on the country's abysmal sporting record. it dazzles the consumers by its shiny lights while doing nothing to improve the sport. Absolutely nothing. Nada! I'm personally no fan of the Ranti Martins either but if those players can still score 20 goals in a season year after year then the problem is structural, getting another more 'suitable' foreigner won't change anything. Let's go back a little, the waste-of-paper 'roadmap' that most of you were gushing over. Really, there's a previous roadmap on the AIFF website, ever stopped and looked at what it achieved. Did anyone think how this roadmap will work which has been singularly designed to consolidate the position of a separate commercial entity, the Indian Super League. When right now the I-league is the "National" league, it gets zero money, publicity and you expect me to believe that suddenly from next year things will be different. This wonder roadmap, that nobody has seen yet is already a hit among the football intellectuals on the page. The league structure, Goan clubs, the Kolkata giants, everything has been discussed to death but not a word about increasing the sports base, getting more kids to play football and improving community infrastructure. I guess that just won't be fun enough, will it? Quoting @ArsenalFan700 on his own opinion, "it's kind of rubbish".
the ISL has become an arena for aging and retired discards from international football to display their diminishing skills before the gullible viewers.
LOL...I dont know who writes this shit in 2016 in 3rd year of ISL. The reporter seems to be a Goan, he should blame his own team first for hiring "aging and retired discards from international football to display their diminishing skills before the gullible viewers". The other teams are doing way better in signing younger recruits .Besides, I would prefer watching a 35 yr old Borja who is la liga veteran over a 27 yr old Uilliams ...a Brasilian from Japanese 3rd division !!!
@debarghya89 Basically if you asked anyone here if I supported the Indian Super League you would get everyone saying yes when that is not true.
@Aidra Haha, ya, but that is what happens when the people who are against the ISL focus on the wrong things about it.
As for your post, the roadmap does include more than just ISL and League One etc but youth, women, and national team as well. No one is exactly gushing, at least from what I can see, but some users would like to actually see others be patient and wait and see what happens first before announcing that nothing will happen.
@ArsenalFan700 Mate, therein lies the problem, people like you who are knowledgeable about the sport, need to be asking tougher questions to the AIFF. The wait and watch strategy has never worked. They've become brazen and completely apathetic to the "greater good". That video and reference to Lakshya 2020 was to highlight that fact. I hate it when after every major tournament/match/event we go back to the same routine of discussing, hoping and waiting especially since I fear we have greater disappointments in store ahead. We're almost like ostriches in that regard, with our heads under the sand or up the AIFF's ass. In my humble opinion, the matter is more serious and pressing than the constant ISL v I-League debates. Both are rubbish.

I was not aware of the AFC congress though.
