The final of the Uttarakhand Super League is today! Pauri Platoons will take on Nainital Lakes for the first USL crown!
The league also announced player awards for the season:
- Player of the Season (Golden Boot): Chepko Tapago (12 goals - Pithoragarh Panthers). - Best Forward: Balla Al Hussan (10 goals - Dehradun Capital Rangers). - Best Midfielder: Rohit Gusain (Dehradun Capital Rangers). - Best Defender: Vikas Chettri (Nainital Lakes). - Best Goalkeeper: Ayush Rai (Pithoragarh Panthers). - Best Upcoming Player: Bhupender Singh (Pithoragarh Panthers).
And it is Pauri Platoons who emerge as the inaugural Uttarakhand Super League champions! The Platoons defeated Nainital FC Lakes in a penalty shootout, 3-2, after the match ended 2-2 (including extra-time).
Nainital FC Lakes took a 2-0 lead after 10 minutes but the come back was on for the Pauri Platoons and they made it 2-2 right before the 90th minute.
Dehradun Capital Rangers meanwhile won the third-place match, defeating Pithoragarh Panthers.
Not bad pictures... the pitch does not look bad at all. If this league can become longer in the future then I would be impressed.
