News reports coming is that Vikas Krishan has pulled out of the Final bout (69kg) that was scheduled for later today due to an eye injury (sustained during Semis bout).
Vikas settles for Silver medal.
So,in 9 out of 13 categories, our Boxer's have qualified. India has secured the highest quota places from Asia along with Kazakhstan,so i will say that this is a phenomenal performance by our contingent. This is already our highest participation in terms of Boxing(the previous best being 8 in 2012) with World Qualifying Tournament still to take place later this year.
As far as remaining weight categories are concerned, i feel that we should definitely qualifying in Men's and Women's 57 kg from the World Tournament with Kavinder Bisht being the boxer of choice and Women can be any like Sonia Chahal, Manisha etc.
Also, i feel it will be difficult for us to qualify in Men's 81 AND 91 Kg Category, more specifically in 81kg. We still have an outside chance in 91kg but in 81kg, i don't feel that Sachin can qualify.
Rating our Boxer's according to Medal Winning chances:-
1)Amit
2)Vikas
3)Lovlina
4)Mary Kom
5)Kavinder/Gaurav Bidhuri(provided they qualify, which most likely they will)
6)Manish Kaushik
7)Simranjit
8) 57kg Women's category(depending on who they select and depends on whether they qualify).
I can do a proper SWOT analysis of every boxer i.e as to why i have selected this order if the members are interested.
