Ask your government to do that! IMO, no Indian stadium built with taxpayers money should be named after foreigners. So called Brazilian, Argentinian fans can raise money, buy land and build a stadium and name it whatever Pele, Maradona, Messi, Ronaldo stadiums.

the sports stadiums should be named after eminent sportspersons. I don't want to see any politician's name in a stadium. Even i remember a cricket stadium in Pakistan is named as Qaddafi or Gaddafi stadium which is named after a leader not even from that country. If not foreign sportsperson, I would like to name it after IM Vijayan because he is the most successfull footballer to make it to NT from Kerala. Then another option is VP Sathyan. Then another option is TKS Mani (first Kerala Santosh trophy winning captain in 1973)
Just gone through naming of cricket stadiums like Wankhede, Chinmaswamy, Chidambaram etc. They are named after person wo took initiative in cricket development. And hence we can justify.
And lastly, I have high regards of football players like Pele, Maradona, Messi, Ronaldo over any stupid, irresponsible, corrupted, criminal minded politicians from my own country or even my own state.
So many comments in this thread. I thought we already built a stadium and improved the football infra!
Sreenidhi Deccan did built one though and named it Deccan Arena. I liked what I saw even though the stadium is very far. As Hyderabad is rapidly expanding it may not be located in outskirts anymore in future years.
They have 2 training grounds and small 2000k capacity stadium with stands(one being temporary) on both the wide sides. Floodlights are not fully installed and still construction is going on in permanent stands side.
2022–23 Hero U17 Youth Cup: Knockout games including final will be played in Deccan Arena. I guess Sreenidhi Deccan & Hyd FC will sign top U17 players from this tournament
