Raman Vijayan, a former star striker from Tamil Nadu, hopes that CCFC’s I-League triumph will be a game-changer for football in the state. “It’s not that we don’t have football clubs in the states, but for years there was nothing to look forward to. Chennaiyin FC’s Indian Super League triumph restarted the club culture in the state but it’s not easy to get an ISL contract. On the other hand, I-League is all inclusive. The youth realised the first step to make a mark is the I-League and CCFC’s success has made an impact among the youth. These guys have become technically better and every TN player is looking up to them,” Raman told TOI.
