LETTER TO AIFF FROM MOHUN BAGAN REGARDING U-19 I LEAGUE
Kolkata , 05-May, 2011 :
Dated: 5th May 2011
Mr. Sunando Dhar
CEO- I League
All India Football Federation
Football House
New Delhi
Dear Sir,
The U-19 Football Tournament 10-11 for I-League Teams is presently underway at Kolkata and our U-19 Team is participating in this tournament. Our Club has placed great emphasis on youth development since the very beginning and consequently we have our residential Academy at Durgapur and non-residential Academies at Kolkata and Jalpaiguri. The players of our U-19 team are cadets of these academies and therefore our own product in the true sense. However we regret that some of the other clubs participating in this tournament do not have dedicated youth development initiatives and are only resorting to gathering players from here and there. The team is at best a make-shift arrangement.
It might be possible that several U-19 players of such teams have already played for other teams in some other tournament this football season itself, in which case they would require lien to play for their new Club. However lien rules clearly specify that any club can take maximum of 6 players on lien (three players from clubs within the same State Association and three from clubs from other State Associations).
We are very surprised and deeply concerned to know that there are atleast 10 players in the present U-19 squad of Kingfisher East Bengal who have played as registered players for other Clubs in this football season in the Premier Division of Calcutta Football League organized by IFA(WB). They are:
5. Gopal Sarkar: Mohammedan Athletic Club (jersey no. 5 of KEB U-19 team)
6. Mrinmoy Samanta: Railway FC (jersey no. 8 of KEB U-19 team)
7. Pahoon Biswas : Kalighat M.S. (jersey no. 18 of KEB U-19 team)
8. Abinash Ruidas : Kalighat M.S. (jersey no. 19 of KEB U-19 team)
9. Malay Dhar: Kalighat Club (jersey no. 3 of KEB U-19 team)
10. Avijit Sarkar: Kalighat Club (jersey no. 14 of KEB U-19 team)
A maximum of 3 players can be taken on loan, since all these clubs are affiliated to IFA(WB).
We request you to please investigate into the matter and take necessary action immediately. Please let us know your decision before the match against Kingfisher East Bengal scheduled on 6th May 2011 at YBK Stadium from 3:45 pm onwards.
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully,
