@Ronny is absolutely right. Last year we were crying about Manvir and Brandon, now that these two are in and we still losing, we want Udanta and Chetri out. Are Indian fans really that fickle? When we had sumit passis and jairus in team we cried. Chetri wasn't being utilised yesterday, how many critical passes were given to him ? Brandon played well but couldn't split defence even once to create a chance.
New players won't make any difference, although soosairaj will definitely get a chance but to assume seriton and soosai will change our fortunes, you guys are naive as fuck.
Any one would agree with Udanta out or bheke out. But the moment you say chrettri out, you lose all credibility. Anyone would doubt your understanding of football
Chettri has carried India on his shoulders for more than a decade now and it's time people understand that the time has come for India to look beyond Sunil Chettri. He'll probably only continue till Asia Cup. We definitely need successors, one proper No.9 and two goal scoring wingers.
The names that could come are Soosairaj, Joby Justin and Rahul KP.
I missed the match yesterday. But looking at the highlights and few minutes of live action early in the first half when that penalty was awarded that I saw, makes me feel that i did not miss much. It was the same story all over again - Stimac reshuffles his defence yet again with another makeshift LB and CB (astonishingly 6 months into his regime and he doesn't know his best 11 or his defenders .. he had specialist LB and CB but chose not to play them. God knows why), India starts out well with crisp passing but within their own half, opposition takes a few minutes to understand our game and decides to target our weak non specialist defender and wham- we have a penalty! After that our passing goes shit and opposition takes control of ball and the game and eventually we concede. Our wingers were man marked, Brandon played too deep, Haldar was doing God knows what and our central midfield was almost non existent. Eventually Chettri had to come deep to retrieve the ball and that depleted our striking option. Manvir was anyways invisible for mist of match. And then we had injuries...
Chhetri cant groom another striker! He did jackshit with Robin, Passi, Manvir etc. He is 35 now, getting slower, his first touch was already poor and is getting worse now! He can be best utilized as super sub. He cannot be an out and out our primary striker anymore, that place should go to Joby Justin.
Foreign coaches in ISL are on crack, why do we have Mandar, Kurian, Sosai playing as wing backs? What is that Doru motherchod doing as a TD, this needs an intervention from AIFF!
Chettri wont be playing in 2023 Asian cup even if we qualify, he will be 39 by then. we need to go back to 3+1 rule in both leagues if we want to have any hope of getting strikers to replace Chettri, emphasis being on strikers rather than a striker.
Someone here wrote a long essay on how we should trust the decision making of coach and how the signs are encouraging that the team is improving and that we fans don't know shit about football or its broader perspective or whatever the shit that is. I want to tell that naive person that its easy to give lecture. How can I trust a Coach's decision making when he is deliberately starting with makeshift defenders instead of playing specialist ones? This was done apparently to give the team an extra attacking option in the form of Mandar or Aahique. But if your front 6 players are not able to attack or create any chances then its highly unlikely that your 7th attacking option (in the form of an attacker turned defender) will be able to contribute anything extra! But in doing so the coach leaves his defence vulnerable and invariably that weak link is what all opposition teams exploit to score against us. You can see that in all the 5 matches of WCQ so far (it was sheer luck we survived against qatar). And with the team down a goal then it is left to chase the match for the remaining period, thus not being able to play at our own pace but forced to play as our opposition decides). Stimac championed Narender early on in the first few matches and the lad looked ok. Then why was he not played when jhingan was injured? That displayed that Stimac did not consider him worthy of a pressure match situation. Just imagine what would that do to a 18 year old's confidence that his coach is playing a fucking non performing RB (Bheke) or a retired and unfit Anas as CB instead of him? Just imagine. Then the LB issue. We have decent LBs like Subhashish and Nishu but they were ignored for Mandar. Why? If our defence remains so fragile how will we attack when every player knows he has to rush back to help his defence as its unreliable. The good thing about Constantine's era was that he played to India's strength and made our defence impregnable. If the opposition is unable to score against us for 80 long minutes and gets frustrated then Indian players are bound to get some opportunities to attach on the counter and score. That was the strategy and it worked. Remember, good teams always have a solid and stable defence upon which they build their attacks.
