Coaches should stress more in speed and one touch football. Persepolis just killing their opponents with such quick thinking foitball. Ofcourse fitness will be an issue if you have 5 months offperiod. Also coaches et such less time to improve their players. Federation cup/super cup/ durand all these tournaments were also stopped.
Before comparing Goa & Istiklol or India & Tajikistan, we need to take note of below points 1. Istiklol has most of their National team players. 2. Istiklol players playing together for more than 3 years and AFC cup runners in 2015 & 2017 and they are best team in their country and won last 7 league titles. 3. Few of Istiklol players has experience playing in Russian leagues , Uzbekistan , Belarus & Indonesia. and their main player, Manuchekhr Dzhalilov (so far scored 3 goals in Champions league) played in Russia & Indonesia and he is part of 2007 U-17 World cup (qualified on merit ) and he is awarded 2017 AFC cup best player. 5. Tajikistan improved heaps & bounds and is superior to India and we have lost 3 games including home tie

Though we have players like Lallianzuala Chhangte, Bipin Singh & Manvir Singh who can score good goals, but they are not comparable with Istiklol/Tajikistan(both technically & experience in facing tough AFC opponents) 8. If we see last 3 years performance, if we take-out Sunil Chhetri , India NT would have been toothless and attacking wise, our only considerable performance is Thailand Asian cup game. I still feel Chhetri is only reliable player who can score goals against quality opponents. 9. I agree we have improved, but Other Asian teams/clubs improved three/four times than Indian NT/clubs 10. Last but least, football is not about possession, passing accuracy & no. of shots including on target, but we should play with right intent & confidence. Most of players doesn't have confidence, whenever they have chance to score goal, they pass the ball to foreign player/top player like Chhetri.
But one positive note is, we thought , getting 2 points itself is an achievement for FC Goa against these opponents. FC Goa has only played 4 games and already have 2 points. FC Goa players reasonably done well, if not the tight schedule, they would have done better in last game. I still feel, this Goa team has capability to grind 1-2 points in next 2 games. One more note is, though Istiklol won this game by 4-1, they lost previous game 1-3 against same opponent (Al Hilal). They have come-up with right plan & played with intent.

Guys.. just see the stats against Tajikistan, Turkmenistan & Kyrgyzstan NT teams in last 10 years . We just won 1 game, drawn 1 game and lost other 6 games.

I don't know why we are comparing Central Asian nations and India. As long as AIFF & FSDL value PR & glamour over on-field performance, the best we can expect is to be competitive against Bangladesh & Nepal.
AIFF has a very good media team now. Even if we lose against Bangladesh, they'll write a very good piece after finding the positives and how India football is developing.
