My point behind pulling out these stats is that Central Asian countries have made a good progress in last 10 years. They are better then us at NT / club level.
Results in ACL are not a one off surprise - it will be a regular occurence in coming years.
Now actually we need to emulate them and build / improve upon FC Goa good performance this year.
Maybe it's the other way around. Maybe we were never better than them but beat them in the AFC challenge cup by fluke at home, and since then have been thinking that we were better but the results showed something else. Barring Tajiks,up to the U-23 level we have been easily beating Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan even recently. Tajiks are going through their golden generation right now. We really should have more friendly games with them
As per me that was not fluke. With both Bhaichung, Sunil upfront and an inspired squad with right strategy made it possible. We played really well in Gachibouli too not only in the final in Ambedkar.
I guess the reason for comparison is both FC Goa and Istiklol are new comers in AFC Champions league and there is a significant difference in approach and result. Having said the above and so many other things, we must appreciate what FC Goa has produced so far. It is far better than expectation and level. Apart from keeping faith in Ishan, fielding Adil despite his poor form and passing the ball inside own box instead of long kick during last moment, every thing is way above the level and Juan must be appreciated. Its not easy to share touchline with Blanc. Hope Stimach continues his gesture to give chances to performers and include Glan, Seriton, Brandon, Dheeraj in the first XI. That would be the real gain for us.
No doubt FC Goa performance has to be lauded. Here India and Tajikistan comparison reference is to point out flaws of AIFF and especially FSDL who have basically done nothing since their fancy takeover.

Well we have improved no doubt though less than expected.
but today the new ISL fans need quick results, they may not be patient and cannot wait. personally i want next ISL season to be over because i want to see i league promoted team to be playing in ISL.

Problem is we couldn't able to even snatch a point against the likes of Oman, Turkmenistan , Tajikistan & North Korea including Home ties. Also we are not able to win games against SAAF nations , Afghanistan & Guam.

for 2026 edition asia has 8 slots. if we somehow scrape through it is enough. like suppose we ended in a easy group or something by avoiding asian heavyweights on the road to the last round.
