Nepal just beat Maldives for the first time in the SAFF Championship. Great result for them, but a much needed slap in the face for Maldives.
Last night's game showed why the current gang of Maldivian coaches will never succeed at international level. Ali Suzain basically fielded his buddies. We looked devoid of creativity until younger heads were brought on.
Let's hope his ego isn't as big as his dreadlocks.
Maldivian govt. company PSM had bought the broadcasting rights for this SAFF. They've set a price tag of 40K USD for the broadcasting rights. That's the problem why this edition of SAFF is not being broadcast in Nepal and India.
Only TSports has bought the rights from PSM for 40K USD so far. According to AIFF GS Kushal Das AIFF was not interested to buy the rights for 40K USD since the beginning. They asked PSM to reduce the price. But FAM and PSM think that the price tag is reasonable. So, they refused to reduce it.
Anyways, the good news for Indian fans is according Kushal Das, India will buy the rights within tomorrow and SAFF will be broadcast in an Indian channel.
On the other hand, Nepal think the price tag is too high. Hence, they will not buy the broadcasting right.
