Unpopular opinion: Anwar Ali should play as a CDM . He's physically not the ideal CB and can get overpowered by a foreign attacker easily . He is decent with ball at his feet and if you're concerned about missing his long ball from our half , then he has the option to drop deep to receive ball and distribute from there while building an attack from back . Also he is intelligent (maybe 2 % better than other players, but still ) to pick a pass in midfield. And I feel he'll be more mobile and flexible than Jeakson.
Yeah agreed I feel the same way. After Rowlin who can pick that long diagonal passes I think Anwar is the second best we have. Like jahouh he could also turn creater. It will good to find that out
Didn't watch the match but from what I could gather from the live updates at Khel Now, Mauritius gave Syria a run for their money...come close to scoring on a couple of occasions but missed out due to the lack of finishing by their attackers. Mumbai City FC defender Thaer Krouma came on as a sub for Syria in the second half

Even I didn't watch today's game. But based on the performance against us, I would say their FIFA ranking is inflated. Their left back looks top notch player, he literally kept Chhangte silent.. Hope some Indian club sign him. Even thier captain (C.B) kept our players in his pocket & other defenders + Goalie are also good and have excellent co-ordination. Even we don't have that kind of co-ordination.. Their midfield is poor. But their attacking players are also playing well, mainly left winger , matched the pace of Asish , even their striker looks fine.
Our defense did reasonably well, players like Rahul & Sana cleared several balls, if not, we would have conceded.
Finally verdict is, Mauritius N.T is miles better than most SAFF nations ( Nepal, Maldives etc). Stats would say different, but in few departments, there were much better than us as well.
I felt the same way when I watched yesterday's match. I said to myself that there's no way this team is ranked 172. Their left winger was phenomenal, unlike chhangte he could take on defenders ...also had one long range shot on bar and created many chances. But just like us they couldn't do much inside the box.
Still we are lacking by a far. As you said we do not even have the average footballer decision making and reactions. The crowd kept cheering as soon as we cross halfline only to be disappointed in the screw ups. Not great games for a lot of new fans to witness.
this describes just any random KBFC home match at Kochi.
For making new fans interested in NT matches and generally to Indian football, this issue badly needs to be addressed quickly. Since the millennium the fans have been exposed to World football and expect some quality passing game. The players need to take risks in these situations.
saw the match last 20 mins were good attacking from the team. unlucky to hit the bar 2 times. loosing the ball in position, giving away the passes are persistent issue whenever I watch Indian football team match.
I was unable to watch today's match but after watching highlights it seems India played okay but as always zero goals to back it's performance. Can someone who has watched the full match tell how did India actually performed as highlights can be misleading something.
We started the game poorly and slowly grew into it towards the end of 1st half . 2nd half was much better . Sahal, Ashish Rai ,Liston,Changte played OK while the usual suspects didn't disappoint with their poor performance . Gurpreet made 2 -3 good saves but let in a poor shot at goal,so typical of him . India's best defender Anwar Ali and best wingback Subhashish Bose were India's worst defenders of the game . Edmund was OK in his 10 mins cameo .
