This is what Rob Baan has to say on hosting the u17 world cup smoothly or else it would end in the country having to lose its face. Some valid points mentioned, do read it.
That would be really bad..Kolkata should not miss out..Potentially a city which has earmarked Indian football past 1 century, should get a chance to host the most prestigious event ever to be held in indian football..the state association and WB govnt should join hands to imm start on preparations so that we are not disappointed

If Kolkata can't provide the proper infra they should miss out on U17 World Cup. Because I don't want India to get embarrassed in front of the whole world for poor infra of YBK. But as far as our sports minister all needed renovation will be done to YBK including a new natural turf.
Salt Lake stadium used to have natural turf but because of poor drainage and ground condition, especially due to monsoon rains whereit used to become mud bath, artificial turf was required. Salt Lake used to be like this especially in the monsoon period. Artificial turf is not banned by FIFA!!!!!!
