Mumbai and Bangalore will not be selected as venue for U-17 World Cup. If main stadium has artificial turf, then FIFA is asking for a secondary ground for Practice pitch also on artificial turf. I hope Calcutta makes it with Salt Lake Stadium and Barasat Stadium. Pune, Delhi, Goa and Cochin are almost confirmed venues.
I guess you don't know the rule properly...FIFA clearly states that for artificial turf you need to have an attached artificial practice turf within premises or nearby the stadium...but barasat and salt lake stadium are far away....anyways hope things work out as salt lake stadium is in dire need of renovation...if this event does not come to this state ,then things will remain same
The FIFA Team will be inspecting the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi from 10am on February 26, 2014. Mr. Inaki Alvarez, Deputy Director and Head of Event Management Competitions Division, FIFA will be speaking about his experience after the inspection finishes.
This is very good for us. I mean, he did not say that we are ready yet but that, with some work, we can make just in time for 2017 which would be crucial for the success of Indian football.
