After meeting Sarbananda Sonowal said "Had a meeting with the FIFA delegation, led by Secretary General Jerome Valcke and Mr. Praful Patel, President of the All India Football Federation (AIFF). We discussed about how to develop and popularize football at the grass-roots level in India.
I assured them that our government will extend full support in hosting the Under -17 Football World Cup in 2017. We will upgrade the infrastructure setup like the football stadia and ensure that our young talents and upcoming football players are equipped with the best of the facilities."
