But see the positives -they are playing in home conditions with massive crowd support....my personal opinion is that they were not able to cope up with the pressure of performing at this highest level.
There is a saying in Konkani the Goan language 'Nachonk noko zalear angönd vankdem' which means if one cant dance then the fault is of the crooked dance-floor. Vasco won 3-2 against Royal. <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->
looks like Vasco will qualify...I just hope Lajong is the other team....
In that case there will be 4 goa teams, which is a bit much...but credit to Goa clubs for developing themselves...even Sporting club de Goa deserves to play in I league.....

Yeah I agree to that but then again it wouldnot be an ileague anymore.
Interesting reading some of the recent posts below. However one has to face the facts. Clubs like Sporting and Royal are suffering because of the quality of the pitch. That said - one of course acknowledges that nothing much can be done about it because the AIFF has got other matters to deal with. No one will ofcourse consider that fact that a team has spent so much time and effort to develop a beautiful style of passing soccer which gets nullified due to the pitch. Or that "squad depth" is very much dependent on "the depth of one's pockets"!! So no point discussing about how good one's squad is because even if one were to play good football - at the moment the cons outweigh the pros. As for nerves wrt to playing at the so called highest level - kindly look at the congested fixtures. Injuries can trouble any team - to minimize that you have well spread out schedules. Lets be analytical if attempting to be critical.

Believing for a moment the above facts, its clear that AIFF does not want quality teams to qualify. Anyway the venues were declared long time ago & the teams had sufficient time to prepare. I can understand Vasco playing great football on this kind of surface as most Goans learn their football on paddy fields but sporting is lacking behind, maybe they were a bit pampered by their boss.
