This article was today published in our blog by an East Bengal supporter, who reports on the unfortunate incident happening during the Federation Cup semi final between East Bengal and Prayag United.

Excerpts from the article :
This occasion proved unbearable for so called BIG CLUB’S [BORO DOL] fans. Taking advantage of their large number of attendance they mercilessly beat up Prayag fans. East Bengal fans burnt Prayag flags, light up fire in the Prayag’s gallery they kicked United supporters out of the stadium ,throwed stones and shoes on them. Even ladies were also abused. At the end of the day’s play, the angry East Bengal mob questioned ”Who are Prayag fans? They all are Mohun Baganis , we won’t tolerate any others in our stadium”. To celebrate their victory Red and Gold fans ransacked United’s buses also. Brutally injured supporters of United SC admitted to the local hospital. Someone’s face, someone’s head was broken
IFA was requested by Prayag to provide a separate gallery for their fans but IFA failed to do so. Thus the fans had to sit together which escalated tension between the 2 parties. So in reality, its the faliure of IFA. But even then, the violence is unjustified.

Do take a look at the images from the incident and the full article.

it used to be in the 90s now the police, the fa and the fans have taken a strict measure against them.
they have cctv cameras, anti-hooliganism hotline which is toll free, etc

Even today I have seen few instances where angry E.B fans were damaging seats.

Nice article after the recent incident after EB 1-4 loss against Aryans
the reason why bengal teams are not doing what they are quite capable are also due to these blind fans who dont understand the game clearly and follow their team and want them to win everytime....
dont man utd get beaten by relegation threatened team and dont their fans yet keep faith in them or take example of arsenal who have i feel has more truthful fans dont they keep faith....
or else consider our own indian owners club who are struggling and have highly emotional fans but they never showed this attitude towards players by beating them or accusing them of bribing
i really dont understand why will any one who is not a forced follower will follow either of them....

Exactly. Most Bengali's start supporting East Bengal or Mohun Bagan because of there history and from that expect them to do well all the time. That is why Bengali football has went down also because if one of them are not winning then why go? Most don't know whats it like to be a real fan. Same with Goa soon also which is what started the Goa vs Kolkata war which makes Indian Football look like a bad football country.
