Internet Desk: East Bengal’s Haitian forward Wedson Anselme makes his debut In the Red and Gold colours with a bang in their first exhibition match against Baghajatin Athletic Club of Siliguri through an emphatic performance to showcase his arrival.
The Haitian scored once and assisted Jiten Murmu and Prohlad Roy in the first half to lead his side to a rampaging 3-0 victory.
East Bengal started their first exhibition match before the Hero I-League in a tentative fashion in the first half as the lack of understanding among the players were vivid. But it was the new Haitian forward Wedson Anselme who started the positive things for the Red and Gold brigade.
The first goal came when Wedson made a brilliant run from the left and blotted the entire attention of the opposition defence towards him. Wedson crossed the ball to an unmarked Jiten Murmu on the right who made no mistake to give the lead to his team with a precision finish.
The second goal was almost an action replay of the first goal as Wedson once again made a superb run from the left and crossed the ball inside the box. The goalkeeper made a fumble and opportunistic Prohlad Roy did the rest by tapping the ball at the back of the net.
Wedson scored his first goal in East Bengal colours with a magnificent solo effort as he took the ball in his own half and after a fantastic dribbling run he lobbed the ball over the head of the goalkeeper who was ahead of his line.
The condition and the form of the new Haitian forward will certainly satisfy the East Bengal team management and the fans. Though the East Bengal side gave the opportunity to their U19 players to prove their quality, the combination seemed to be all over the place among the players. The win will though give a lot of confidence to the entire squad.
so east Bengal will play in 4-3-3 formation with Subashish as gk. Narayan and rahul as wingbacks Bukanya and Ali as center backs. Romeo as LW and Ruidas as RW rowlin as CM. Wedson,Plaza and Paul as strikers?
Ruidas plays as a left winger and Romeo plays as a right winger...Morgan has hinted that Wedson may be deployed as a withdrawn forward, playing behind the strikers
well this clearly shows professionalism etc at MB,EB when first they finalize a foreigner and say he is joining..later that guy does not join..someone like BFC if they say XYZ is a foreign addition, it is him nothing else!
by now EB should have realized that Morgan does not have the capability to guide them to an I league title..why waste money on a spent, worthless coach?
That is the difference between a professionally run club and community based clubs. The former focuses single-mindedly on team building, while the latter has to take the members along. To show them they are working out something, the office bearers leak some half-cooked (even semi-, quarter- cooked and raw) deals. The idea is to keep the members' imaginations occupied and keep their seats secure. The whole thing reeks of unprofessionalism and is the bane of Kolkata football.
