Opinion: Don't overhype this news. First of all, its Bimal Ghosh, not exactly the best man on the block for developing top players and second of all there are lots of things missing like who is backing these academies and what the facilities are like as well as other information. Nice stuff to read though.
To be fair to Bhimal Ghosh ( tongue very firmly in cheek )..he has a proven abikity to spot talent...has done wonders for picking up unknown NE players and developing them. A lot of the NE players that won the title for Churchill Brother's the 1st time around were former Bhimal Ghosh players at Air India.
What astonishes me..is that he is reputation as a man who's hand is permanently in the cookie jar and had fleeced Air India players and the Dodsal group can manage to get another job...this man must be amazing in interviews !!
By amazing, do you mean showing off his wiki page and adding in a few ruppees under the table. I always felt there was a reason that at random points during the year the Ghosh page is revamped by someone random to make him look good.
@mohammed_87hassan he choose players for Air India, age was not an issue and there is no reason to believe in this case suddenly the age cheating would have stopped, so they woould have been over age as well.
My only problem with Ghosh is that for an ambition like the FIFA U-17 World Cup I do not believe he is the right man to coach or even scout. We are talking about the freaking U-17 WORLD CUP! This is a tournament that could define the future of Indian football and while Ghosh would potentially be playing a minimal 0.5% role in it I would still rather that be 0%.
His scouting/coaching may work at the Indian domestic level but I have my doubts about the level above.
We need a good Academy for training Coaches also. I dont know whether any training of coaches is done by SAI Regional Centers or not in Football. We need more qualified coaches at Junior Level across India. AIFF needs to involve Sports Ministry and Sports Authority of India atleast in the training of Coaches so that we can improve the training at grassroot level. AIFF alone cant do it.
