Robin Singh (Cricketer) is one successful example of Caribbean born Indian origin player playing for India. His parents, grand parents were all born in Trinidad and Tobago as most of the Indians went to Trinidad, Guyana, Suriname in 1800s so thats like great grandparents connection. Robin Singh got it as he lived in India for 5 years and wife was Indian. Thats why his entry in Indian team was delayed, he was like 33 when he played first game for India.
Their Indian names have anglicised spellings. names are mostly Gods names. Alvin Kalicharan, Rohan kanhai, Shivnarine Chaderpaul, Ravi Rampaul. Surinam is neighbouring country of Guyana and because of Dutch connection, it is easier for them to go to Holland for Employment, studies, sports. Many Black players of Holland are of Surinam origin. I once read interview of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink who was born in Suriname as he was saying that he grew up in indian neighbourhood in Suriname and he knows Amitabh Bachchan. Anybody remember Aaron Winter??? (Again Arun became Aaron) In my opinion he was the first Partly Indian origin player. He played in 1994 world cup for Holland. Somehow media made Vikash Dhorasoo case that Dhorasoo is the first Indian origin to play in World Cup..
