I never expected such a pessimistic comment from you... "He will return to India in around a year due to "home sickness"
He stays near to Bhutan and traveled all the way to Kokrajhar for selection trails which is around 250 km.... In Assam, travelling 250 km is not like driving in US... Transport system is not that good in Assam..
Also as per the article, he is the only one selected in Kokrajhar and his family background is poor... for sure, he will not misuse this opportunity.... Parents are not stupids to send their 9 year old kid by road (250 km) for selection if he is not choosing football as a profession...
As you said, he may feel home sickness for couple of months... not after that.... German clubs has lot of Asians in junior level and few in senior level as well... and Hoffenheim is no exception in that....
If everything work outs, India U17 may play in German top tier youth league.... and if there are exceptional players in our U 17 batch, Hoffenheim may sign 1 or 2 players.... Chandan Boro can meet them
@ reddevil87 Hoffenheim is ambitious club and they are trying to expand their fan base all over the world... Based on the article, seems to be it is an actual training.. If it is gimmick, maximum training period will be 1 or 2 months and not 6 years
After Dortmund & Schalke, I follow TSG 1899 Hoffenheim... in 1999, there are in 5th division (Tier/level in Germany)... now playing in Bundesliga.... and Hoffenheim is a small village....
Reliance is not a dumb... Do you want Reliance Young Champs in AFC U14 Festival..... ?? common man.. not everyone selected is U13/U14.... there are kids aged 11 & 12 years as well... Reliance selected players from different age groups (11,12,13,14)..... These players getting trained in mumbai/goa... without proper experience and bonding,, it is risk to play them in AFC competitions/festivals...
First better to play with school teams, then clubs and after that we can think about international youth teams...
If I'm not wrong, this group has already traveled to England and played against EPL youth teams.... AIFF could have published the scores, if results are pleasing.. but I don't think so...
Reliance young champs are average ???? There goes the future of indian football who in Rohan's words would have led us to WC glory in "10-12" years (exact timeline given by Rohan) asking Indians to wait while all clubs nurturing youth in India are forced to quit & reliance takes over
The trials will be conducted on 16 and 17 July at the Thyagraj Stadium in New Delhi. The trials for the Under-18s will be conducted on Saturday while the Under-16s can showcase their skills on Sunday.
@Nagendra I don't think it will be actual home sickness, I think it will be him in the end not being good enough and them using "home sickness" as the excuse.
@Deepakc I say a lot of things, lots of shit, but never said they would lead us to a World Cup or that they would lead us to World Cup glory. I have always spoke against their young champs program.
Reliance Young Champs is just a damn marketing tool for Anita Ambani to say " See ISL is helping grassroots... These kids are the future of India..." Firstly, these kids weren't scouted ... Whoever appeared for trials, out of them the best were selected. It wasn't a fair selection. They had to pay a registration fee just to appear in the trials and when selected, you have to pay them a load of cash. Third, Their teams are absolute crap. Just see them play..... Fourth, ISL posts videos of the grassroots ALL THE TIME. I mean, apart from marketing what is the reason behind it? Lastly, ISL grassroots are just for show...for teams to say they have a youth system... It is not where we find REAL talent.
About UDream, you have to pay to go BUT , a select few get scholarships. As for the question regarding the players picked up for NT squad, Yes, Aniket, one of the UDream scouted boys has been selected for India U16(u17 wc squad).. If you got to the fb page of UDream football, you will see his name in the scorers list every time..
@Nagendra; Dude, I take every news with a pinch of salt because of past experience. Now coming to the reason for my doubt. The last batch went there last year around Aug time (as per the news articles). Assuming they have traveled there later, they would have stayed atleast 3-6 months by now. Now tell me wont have they played a single friendly matches there? I didnt find any article about the participation of Udream kids in Hoffenheim youth teams or found any article about the batch playing any match or even about their updates. Now, it is highly unlikely to happen that Udream site does not mention about the matches. For example, when BFC send Udanta for a month to UK. He played couple of friendlies albeit for few mins. That is my doubt.
Note: By the way, I have seen videos of the Udream players in Germany at Udream site. But there is no mention of any such team or collaboration on Hoffenheim site. I might be completely wrong here but want to just get some insight news apart from news articles.
On a totally unrelated front Chiranjit of TFG fame has tweeted that MCFC (Mumbai incase people think otherwise) have blocked him for daring to ask where their academy was!!
At least with shitty ileague clubs you knew where the rotten traing was given and which age group teams were running and where theybtrained
The reason he was banned because he was trolling MCFC CEO on twitter. Indranil I guess is his name, posted a photo of MCFC office's outside view, over which Chiranjit commented about how magnificent their training ground looks.
