@ArsenalFan700 ; It is frustrating because how many times in last 7-8 years was Salt Lake Stadium closed down for renovations? Grass Turf to Artificial then to Grass which again is not good enough. It was also closed for almost 1 year for Floodlights. Plastic Bucket seats in crumbling Concrete. What about Atheletics Track now?
It should have been done once like JLN Delhi or JLN Chennai. Only temporary renovations for IPL Openeing ceremony or ISL is not done.

The architecture and design of salt Lake is a complete disaster and I wouldn't recommend wasting more money on Salt Lake which has always backfired.

It's better to put that money on a new stadium at Rajarhat or even rebuild Rabindra Sarobar stadium which would cost a lot less and is pragmatic.

Salt Lake Stadium deserves a complete makeover and renovation. Close it for 2 years but give us a good product.Demolish it and rebuild. Instead they are indulging in temporary makeup so that somehow ISL is organised-rest everything can go in drain. It is tax-payer money spent everytime for temporary makeup.

Honestly, if we are talking new stadiums, just make a new one somewhere else. Salt Lake Stadium would take a lot of money to demolish and then to rebuild and who knows how long that would take.

Only problem I see is that there is no "reason" to build a new stadium. The FIFA U-17 World Cup is just a U-17 World Cup and that won't be till 2017... no chance of a stadium by then. We are also looking at the U-20 World Cup and Club World Cup but I doubt either of those will get a new stadium as well.

Only a big event will get a new, world-class stadium to Kolkata.

@ArsenalFan700 Demolishing is easy because land is there. Same ownership stays. If you are planning new stadium, where will real estate come for that. In india, land price is very high. If you factor in the cost of acquiring new land, then new stadium project will become cost prohibitive. If you involve any corrupt private shark, they are only interested in getting free land from the Government.
JLN Chennai was rebuilt from JLN stadium which existed before for SAF Games Madras 1996. and that old JLN stadium was rebuilt from Corporation Stadium which was used for Cricket.
JLN Delhi was rebuilt in 2010 from earlier one which was built in 1982  for Asian Games. Even the Hockey National Stadium in delhi is rebuilt two times, same place.
Most of our Cricket stadiums are the ones which were rebuilt after demolishing old ones. This is a standard practice. Where will land come for new project? Who will pay for that?New land will come even further away from the city.
In between 1 and 2 years, there are many examples of old stadiums being demolished and new one completed in India. That is better then every year 6 month makeup closure for ISL.

I agree with Munna, they can demolish the salt lake and built brand new football specific stadium with PPP and home to EB & MB.

Government will look to convert every stadium meant for football into a multi sport venue with facilities for all sorts of Olympic sports which gets to be used once in a decade.

I'd want the clubs to design and build their own football stadium. The government can aid in giving financial and other needed support if necessary.

Hockey and Cricket stadiums are never affected. It's always football!

Cool down nothing is happening and god forbid if any new plan is made regrding demolishing YBK, then i fear kolkata teams will have to play in local grounds for the next 10 years
