ISL have been mulling an expansion of their calendar which could see each team play 27 games instead of the current 18. However, Mrs.Ambani suggested that next season might be too soon for the aforementioned upheaval.
"We are rapidly growing with 10 teams. Our TV viewership has grown by almost 40 percent, viewership on digital has grown by 80 per cent. We are a six-year old league so we don't want to grow too quickly so that it becomes difficult to manage everything," she said.
Not expanding the season to 27 rounds again shows that FSDL is not interested in developing ISL into a real football league. For them it is just another franchise league like IPL or Pro Kabbadi League.
So once again when season ends in March every player will go into hibernation until August 2020 which is like 5 months of doing nothing.
Indian footballers are losing out on crucial match readiness, confidence and awareness as they just have 18 matches for a period of 5 months every year. Even in those 18 matches we have 5 foreigners who take up all the important spots meaning Indians are mostly reduced to playing as wing backs or wingers.
If this keeps continuing dont be surprised at defeats to Bangladesh, Afghanistan. We will never be able to improve, forget qualifying for WC or going beyond group stage in expanded Asia Cup.
India will soon face it hard to pass the group stage of SAFF cup, we saw today BFC beat ATK but same was humiliated by Maldivean team which is not even champion of that country.
Super Cup was a good opportunity for these Franchises to get more playing time for Indian players. But AIFF cancelled that also.

SAAF Cup will be there in September. Third Round of AFC Asian Cup will start next season. What type of match preparation are we giving to our Footballers ? Asian Cup Qualification is not going to be a cakewalk, trust me. Last time Draw was easy and Sunil Chhetri was 4 years younger !!

AIFF cancel U-16 National Team’s tour to Tajikistan amid coronavirus outbreak
The Indian U-16 National team’s exposure tour to Tajikistan has been cancelled post-outbreak of COVID-19 coronavirus.
The U-16 boys, currently the U-15 SAFF Champions, were slated to depart to play two Friendlies against Tajikistan U-16 National Team on March 5. Tajikistan are the current runners-up of the AFC U-16 Championship.
An official mail to All India Football Federation from the Tajikistan Football Federation read: “Please note that as directed by the government of the Republic of Tajikistan due to the situation around the coronavirus, the citizens of 35 countries including India cannot visit Tajikistan.”
“In view of the above, the friendly matches between our teams stay cancelled.”

So ISL finally comes around to confessing that there was something else apart from the development of Indian football on its agenda till now
