as u said, we can invite teams for SAFF cup... But Prize money should be appealing else we would be seeing weaker teams..
CAFA is not a good option.. It is new federation and until now , no Men's senior level or U-23 level competition held in CAFA.. also teams like Iran & Uzbekistan wouldn't prefer to play with SAFF teams..
If SAFF merged with CAFA, it will turn out like EAFF ( monopoly of Japan, S.Korea & China ) and we will see monopoly of Iran & Uzbekistan... even in U-19 & U-16 level, we would end-up playing in preliminary rounds considering the size of federation.
India is unwilling to even participate in SAFF championship.
India hosted SAFF Tournament in 2015, then asked SAFF to delay the tournament till 2018 and sent B team which lost.
On FIFA dates, nobody is stopping India to organise a Friendly match with a tough opponent. Are we doing that ? The answer is No. That time people start giving stupid excuses that if we do not play, our ranking will improve and we get better Pot for Draw. When SAFF comes, we start talking about changing federation. Asian games we didnt send our team.
2020 SAFF Championship will be easily postponed to 2021 August citing congestion in schedule due to Corona and it will suit the interests of AIFF and their masters - private company.
Any ASEAN type strong federation will organise their Cup tournament in January and I would like to see AIFF stopping private tournament for 15 days due to that Cup Tournament !!! Not going to happen.

IPL will be hosted in empty stadiums during September - October. As both ISL and IPL are Star TV assets, they are not held simultaneously. Once IPL gets finished (in front of empty stadiums) and world cup qualifiers - November 12, 17 ISL can take place from Novemnber end.
Much will depend on how the pandemic situation remains in India. they will take a call whether empty stadiums ISL is viable or not ??
Pre season tournaments must be hosted in September and October like IFA Shield and Durand Cup. All ISL and I league teams must play, it's important for the NT players that they don't go in for Qualifiers without any game time.
Pandemic is unlikely to go by then. The curve is just going up with no signs of flattening. Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai are deep in trouble. The statistics are wrong and is grossly underreported especially in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Delhi. The actual case load is way higher.
