AIFF TO INVITE BIDS FOR 2 OR MORE DIRECT I-LEAGUE SLOTS FROM BIG CORPORATES(AIR INDIA AND ONGC WONT PARTICIPATE FROM NEXT YEAR)
PRAFUL PATEL : "because they willbe bidding for players in the next season, the existing clubs will also have to raise the bar and we hope swerve more competition."
This is getting confusing.. how come iran has army n navy teams in their league..thailand has too..so if they can get away with it why not i league? Korea has an army side too.. al jaish in most arab leagues is usually an army side..

They have to register themselves as separate entity. All those Iranian and Thai clubs managed to do them unlike Indian ones.
Why cant air india n ongc do a subsidry n fulful criteria... im sure air india ot ongc have other business interests so this cud be one of those things..
Dsnt have to be private limited..cud retain as public limited or social enterprise or non profit club which happens in the world..
I think its more about getting those 2 new frenchise teams in tht its being done for.. otherwise throw these 2 teams out.. keep the 2 up tht r in relegation zone n u have no problem..

I tried not to reply as I would rather nature take its course this time but I cant handle it.
The Korean team (Korean Police) was only brought in to make up the numbers in the 2nd Division. They along with the other Army side, Sangju Sangmu Phoenix, will most likely not be allowed to be promoted, regardless of position.
Just like Honda FC in the JFL of Japan. However that is not confirmed yet but that seems to be the way it will be there.
As for Iran, if it works for them then why not? If pro/rel works well in most of Europe (supposedly to the naked eye) then why not? That is Iran and South Korea (and Thailand as well as Singapore), but this is India and if you look at the two sides you will see no reason to keep them up.
I dont care how well they are playing. Those players will eventually join up some other club (I would guess that the core of these teams will join the new "direct teams" (THEY ARE NOT FRANCHISES!!!)). Air India and ONGC provide nothing to Indian football. They do nothing to attract fans, to participate in developing younger players, or to attract better players. Hell, look at the companies that owns them. Air India and ONGC. They should at least be able to buy 1 good foreigner instead of the Brown's and Junior's.
ONGC only started assembling a youth team this week. The U20 league begins in 2 weeks and you are only making a team now. Shows how little class they have as a football club.

If they are that stingy about their money then it is right to get rid of them. We need full-time committed teams in the I-League. Teams that are willing to progress.

To cover up AIFF's own deficencis.
india can go up to 138 rank if they win all 3 matches...
Team - Minimum points - Maximum points - Worst possible rank - Best possible rank
