In what seems to be a significant development for the professional football clubs in India, the AIFF Club Licensing Committee has decided to introduce the Salary cap on I-League clubs from the next season.
The I-League Club Licensing Manager, Ms. Roma Khanna, who was in Goa to a hold a seminar for western India clubs told participants that it will be mandatory for all the I-League clubs to curtail their player spends to 75% of the total club budget. The rest 25% should be spent on Youth development and other developmental activities.
