Both of whom were not in the Premier League at the time. Both 2nd Division sides. Also, if I remember correctly, both games taking place in cities which have some good Indian/South Asian populations. Good match all around to remind people there is an Indian side and, considering the dates, a good time for the English sides to do a usual pre-season match.
This is different though. Spanish sides. La Liga sides would have no reason to play Indian sides. 2nd Division sides as well. 3rd Division maybe, if it worked before then why not again.
@shibier Well in 2002, there was one more tour to England and India played Jamaica twice in England.
29/08/2002 Watford India 0-3 Jamaica
1/09/2002 Wolverhampton India 0-0 Jamaica
In 2000 tour, India played one international against Bangladesh winning 1-0 besides playing with Fulham and West Bromwich.
Not sure who the organisers of both of these tours but there was a good Indian crowd at the stadiums and matches were telecast live on DD Sports with Nowy Kapadia as Commentator.
I have some clippings of Fulham match, will try to upload in you tube once I have time. Watch the match, IMV, Renedy & Bhaichung played well.
Could you guys give me some feedback about this news. I mean how real is this and if real can we help this guy by giving him some football boots or kit bags?
My only concern here is that I hope the AIFF are smart here and don't just give these corporates teams on the cheap or willy-nilly. Do what they did with Bengaluru FC and JSW Group. Talk to these corporates, have discussions on what they plan for this team and how they would go about making it a success and then negotiate the "price" for the team.
Also, no Tata SC or Nathaji SC crap. Chennai United FC or Jamshedpur FC would be nice, clean, football traditional names which football fans can easily identify with.
