Without a good state league, it's tough for clubs to survive.

    That reminds me:

    Whatever happened to these clubs:
    • MP United
    • Indore United
    • Delhi United (@arsenalfan700's one-time favourite)
    • Chennai City FC (merging and incorporating Nethaji Sporting)
    • Ernaculam Eagles FC
    • Ludhiana Lions FC (Probably owned by Omaxe Group of Dubai)
    • Jaipur Royals FC (Promted by Raj Kundra, part-owner of IPL team Rajasthan Royals)

All died prematurely? In that case, club mortality rate is insanely high in India!

Add Mumbai tigers (Dodsal Group) also in that list who were supposed to build a Stadium in Mumbai ha ha ha.

One reason is that AIFF is not serious about spreading the game. Corporate Direct entry slot is given to a club from Pune (Kalyani Bharat) where Pune FC is already present with poor crowd. In 2nd Division, we see clubs from WIFA (home zone for Mr Patel) like Kenkre, PIFA again and again. A club can only come up if they have financial ties with Reliance Group or Political clout with Mr Patel. Now clubs are thinking that whether they should go ISL way or go for I-league.

It's time AIFF had imposed 'one city, one club' rule (with one exception, to avoid complications and frayed nerves). Also, they should have done some homework to come out with a list mentioning their order of preferences, which, in my opinion, should be the descending size of Indian cities. Instead of regulating the spread of I-league, they chose to play into the whims of the naive but ambitious corporates.

But then, our basic premises of AIFF being serious and pro-active are woefully wrong ...

Chennai City FC stats in the 1st Div

Played 10 , Won 10, Goals for 59, Goals against 4... Just Frikkin cracy!!, They have hopes of getting into I-league directly although I-league 2nd div after proposed revamp should do just fine for now.

I see they are doing fine; why weren't they called for I-league II this year itself? They would have been much better option than Kenkre and PIFA (with apologies to our resident PIFA fan).
