After the clubs, it is now the turn of the state associations to fall in line with All India Football Federation's drive for professionalism in Indian football. The AIFF executive committee, which meets in New Delhi on Thursday, is all set to implement a State Development Criteria, similar to the licensing system in place for all the clubs.
It was learnt that AIFF president Praful Patel is backing the endeavour and has set up a task force to implement the same. The four-member committee comprises former India captain Baichung Bhutia, AIFF senior vice-president Subrata Dutta, general secretary Kushal Das and I-League CEO Sunando Dhar.
"Majority of the state associations are not good enough. They need to meet the basic requirements like associations having a proper state league of minimum eight teams along with age group events. There should be a CEO. Most states have politicians or other functionaries as office bearers. That is not ideal," Bhutia said.
And so said the politican who heads AIFF and its 4 member commitee! What is not ideal is that the West Bengal CM pushing her stooge in AIFF everywhere, also what is not ideal is people like Praful Patel, Sunando Dhar and Kushal Das being involved in sports administration.
@EastBengalPride They want a Politician to head State Association and a Reliance Group ex-employee as a CEO Having said that, I agree that most of the State Associations are not doing anything worthwhile. Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Chhatisgarh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh are doing nothing-not even a single proper 3rd Division club. :P
@goalkeeper BB15 is a politician, stooge of the West Bengal CM.
@Deb_Ban " what's wrong with Dhar and Das (apart from them being crooks)?" - They are grossly incompetent and incapable of doing anything good. Also they are IMG-R's former monkeys makes their case as a conflict of interest. Hopefully, the PILs would be coming soon
Their incompetency is well known, but incompetency cannot be a bar to official positions . And present monkeys would have come into conflict of interest, not former monkeys.
Excerpts of the AIFF Executive Committee meeting today:
All state associations which would host the FIFA U-17 WC would get Technical Directors.
5 State Associations would get CEOs with AIFF bearing the cost.
I-League 2 would have first phase as a zonal competitions with winners and runners up of State Leagues and then the final phase between winners and runners up from each zone. @Gaffertape I understood this correct?
Fed Cup has been "put on hold" for next 2-3 years to focus more on I-League 2 and U-19 I league.
No changes in promotion or relegation criteria in current edition of I-League, looks like end of road for another Goan club.
So would East Bengal/Mohun Bagan play simultaneously in I League and I-League 2 as inevitably either of these 2 would win Calcutta League Premier Division? Same goes for GPL and Mumbai League I guess.
