AIFF signs agreement with German Football Association
Close on the heels of having signed a MOU with the Japan Football Association in February 2015, the All India Football Federation entered into another significant partnership with DFB (German Football Association) in Goa on Tuesday (April 21, 2015).
AIFF General Secretary Mr. Kushal Das signed on the dotted lines with Mr. Markus Weidner, Director Coach Education and International Relationship, DFB.
The partnership aims at technical collaboration with emphasis on Coach Education, Grassroots Programme and Youth Development.
Besides delegates from FIFA, Indian National Team Head Coach Stephen Constantine and Technical Director Scott O’Donell were also present, as was Dr. Shaji Prabhakaran, FIFA Regional Development Officer for South and Central Asia.
Mr. Weidner mentioned that the DFB were “delighted” to enter into this agreement.
“We are delighted to enter into this co-operation agreement with AIFF. The appointment of Mr. Nicolai Adam as the Head Coach of the India U-17 National Team which will be playing in the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017 is the first step in our co-operation,” he told www.the-aiff.com
Mr. Das highlighted the significance of having DFB on board.
“It’s an extreme honour to enter into an agreement with the German Football Association. This partnership will usher in an overall technical development for Indian Football,” he said.
“It is always best to learn from the best. Germany are the World Champions and that they have been the most consistent Team in the World speaks about their approach to the game. Indian Football will only further benefit from here on.”
How are these MOU helping in improvement of the game in country?? I am hoping we start seeing results in age groups in next 5 -7 years... by 2022 I am expecting our u-16 and u-19 team to enter AFC asia cup at ease then probably to quarters...
We should send Referees, Stadium maintenance people, Coaches at Junior Level to these countries for further training. That should be the purpose of MOU. Forget about Indian players doing great at J-League.
AIFF will consider appeals from some clubs to stop relegation so that the uncertainty for investments (sponsors) is cleared and all clubs are in positions to arrange their houses.
Theoretically I think this would be a good step to strengthen I-league, but just wondering how the direct entry clubs will react to this. I mean, they spent a fortune each (though it did not show in AIFF balance sheets) to safeguard themselves from relegation. Their investments become nullified. Now what?
Relegation should be there otherwise what will be motivation for 2nd division clubs. How will they enter I-League if no club is relegated? There is hardly any motivation for Rehab Center Kalyani BharatFC. they will finish last in the points table and continue to play in I-League. I never got answer that how much money Bharat FC gave to AIFF?
